A *Real* Hoosier Candidate

We of course realize that we're the underdog in this race. Trey Hollingsworth is the 9th richest member in Congress, and his campaign coffer is overflowing with donations from major corporations in the pharmaceutical, financial and insurance industries. With the help of his father—Lord only knows how rich Trey's dad is—this young Tennessee carpetbagger was able to basically buy the 9th District four years ago, and he'll spend big to keep it. We fully understand what we’re up against.

But there’s a difference between being an underdog, a scrappy competitor with a game-winning free-throw shooter's chance, and not having any shot at all. Nobody understands that better than a Hoosier. And I'm telling you: We've got a shot.

I understand some apprehension about donating to a campaign like ours that feels in some ways like a long shot. I know that it’s been maddening and demoralizing to watch Trey Hollingsworth’s money buy out the district. But I’ll tell you, although we may disagree on a point or three with our 9th district neighbors, there is a theme that runs through every conversation -- our common bond as Hoosiers who care about other ordinary Hooisers. It's the one thing Tennessee Trey and his father can't buy.
